"Fall Fair Suite" was the second song featured in Ride the Cyclone as an intro song, but was later replaced by Uranium Suite in the Atlanta 2019 production, the World Premiere Cast Recording, and all productions onwards.
Uses
Lyrics
Choir [except Ricky]:
When the Fall Fair comes to towwwn
Ocean/Constance:
Oh, step right up
It's good clean fun
All the games and rides
A little something for everyone
When the Fall Fair comes to town!
Noel/Mischa:
When the Fall Fair comes to town!
Choir [except Ricky]:
(Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo din day)
Karnak [spoken]:
Tonight, my apology, a eulogy my way of a concert
The final concert of the now deceased Saint Cassian Chamber Choir
Choir [except Ricky]:
When the Fall Fair comes-
Fall Fair comes-
Fall Fair comes-
Fall Fair, Fall Fair, Fall Fair, Fall Fair. . .
When the fall's not fair
This ride goes where?
Aah
AAH
Karnak [spoken]:
Tonight, I wish to give them the chance to express not what they were perceived to be, but what they dreamt they were
Tonight, we shall raise a middle finger to that most ruthless adjudicator called time
Choir [except Ricky]:
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Ocean:
Something doesn't feel quite right
Constance:
A blur of coloured spinning light
Ocean/Constance:
My heart is racing, pounding in my ears
Mischa:
Dizzy tingling's spinning 'round
Oh, where's the sky and where's the ground?
Noel:
The rabbit comes and then he disappears
Ocean/Constance:
Total darkness, spinning black
Mischa/Noel:
Pushing forward, pulling back
Choir [except Ricky]:
Falling through the air
I wonder
How
Can
This
Be
Fair?
Aah-aah-aah-aaah
Ahhhhhh
Jane Doe:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
Ocean:
What a load of freaking junk!
That crusty carnie, clearly drunk!
Sue that fair for everything they've got!
Noel:
What's the point of even suing?
Dead, we're done! There's no undoing!
Nothing left to do except to rot!
Mischa:
Sex? Oh God, why did I wait?
Ocean:
Now I'll never graduate!
Constance:
I hope I wiped my browser history clean!
Choir [except Ricky]:
Why did I even go to class?
Algebra 12, kiss my ass!
Mischa:
Now I know what "YOLO" really means!
Ocean:
Carpe diem!
Choir [except Ricky]:
What a lovely theme
Noel:
C'est la vie!
Choir [except Ricky]:
Life is just a dreeeaam!
Just a dream!
And then you're sailing through space
You don't know up from down
And you feel a little strange
From all that spinning round
And everything you loved
And everything you dreamed
And everything you feared
And everything that seems so
Oh so terrifying
It's far behind on the ground
Like our far-from-the-city-little-itty-bitty-pretty hometown
Just a teeny tiny dot on a wee blue ball
And we've all been spinning
Mischa/Noel:
All been spinning
Ocean/Constance:
Been spinning
Mischa/Noel/Constance:
Round and round and round
And round and round
Round and round
Ocean [spoken]:
Had a strange feeling from the start!
Bought our tickets, stood in line, a rickety cart
I did not feel safe at all
Tick-a tick-a heard the crack!
Choir [except Ricky]:
Down the drop now I know we're never going back!
But what really happens?
What really happens after?
The, the, the, the
The, the, the, the
Drop
Trivia
- The Choir singing at the end of the song is theorized to represent their screams as the Cyclone crashes.
- The title includes the use of puns. “Fall” refers to the season of Autumn, but also to the fall that caused the deaths of the St. Cassian Choir. “Fair” refers to a recreational fair, but is used as a means of saying that they died unfairly.
- The lyric "far-from-the-city-little-itty-bitty-pretty hometown" is similar to traditional choir warm-ups, like "mommy made me mash my M&Ms", or "many mumbling mice are making midnight music in the moonlight, mighty nice".
- In the choreography for this song, Ricky appears to be the only one to hear Jane's screams.
